Why am I not losing weight? – Day 11
One of the things I want to do with this program is answer the most commonly asked questions.
So one question I always get is,
“Why am I not seeing the scale move?”
I actually have a couple of answers, and one is throw away your scale. And the reason for that is because, especially if you haven’t been big into exercise in the past whatever amount of time, you’re going to start building a lot of muscle over the next few months. And muscle weighs a lot more than fat.
Muscles are a lot more dense. So what happens is you’re going to lose inches, but you may not initially lose weight. And I think so many people are geared towards–looking at their success by numbers on the scale, even if you look at The Biggest Loser, how every single week they look at who has lost what weight. And it always amazes me because we have some very intense workout programs and you may not lose weight from one week to the next.
The important thing that you want to look at is inches. You want to make your clothes feel looser. You’re going to look in the mirror and see that everything looks tighter. And you’re going to feel better. And those are the things you really want to concentrate on.
And I would really hold off even worrying about measurements for the first month. Get through your first 30 days and then do your measurements. Don’t worry about what you weigh, because I promise you I know people that weigh 160 pounds and they’re in a size 4.
So the most important thing is just to be consistent, have those smaller goals, and just keep pushing play every single day. And you’re going to see amazing results.
